Dr. Henry Gahagan House - 1902

Located on what was once part of the Lovell landholdings, this home features a Colonial Revival Dutch gambrel roof, projecting eaves of the Shingle Style, and a Queen Anne flavored parade balcony, which appears to almost have been carved out of the main part of the house. Dr. Gahagan served as Elgin's City Physician for several years, before being appointed superintendent of Illinois Northern Hospital for the Insane, (now Elgin Mental Health Center).
